Julie Ann Smith, age 60 of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home on June 30, 2021. She was born on November 15, 1960 to Raymond and the late Carol (Lipke) Keen. Julie did many things during her working life, but what she had a passion for and was most proud of was her time spent driving over-the-road semi-trucks (18 wheelers) and driving little children to school as a bus driver. Later in life, Julie loved spending time with her family and friends and getting out into the sunshine. She also loved animals and whenever she met a new dog on her adventures, Julie was always ready with a treat for them. Julie was so special, touched the hearts of many, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends (furry and otherwise).
Julie leaves behind her husband, Bill Smith, her father, Raymond Keen, sister, Joan (John Oliver) Keen, brothers; Mike (Vicki) Keen, Monty (Colleen Eronson) Keen and Jeff (Chasidy) Keen. Julie is further survived by several nieces and nephews, including; Micah, Timothy, Nathaniel, Bethany, Sarah, DeAnna, Sydney, Seth and Paul as well as many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton from 9:30 to 11:00am, with a small service at 11. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center for the care given to Julie.
