Judith Koivunen Obituary

Judith Katherine (MacDonald) Koivunen

Judy was born in Florida location Michigan, June 8th, 1947 to Ovid and Bernice MacDonald. Judy was a light in a dark world, giving of herself to everyone she encountered.  Judy lived by her own rules and special adventures she brought to all those around her.  Judy took her last adventure in this world January 14th, 2021.  Believing she will continue her adventure with Nathan J. Koivunen (RIP 1995).

Judy was surrounded by her family as she passed.  Judy is preceded in death by her husband Nathan John Koivunen, Father Ovid MacDonald, Mother Bernice MacDonald, Sister Sandra (MacDonald) Smith, brothers Peter MacDonald and Robert MacDonald.   Judy is survived by her Daughter Elizabeth (Greg) Koivunen-Fitzgerald, Son James Koivunen, Daughter Jeanne Koivunen-Zuleta, Daughter Erika (Aaron Howard) Koivunen, grandchildren Liam M. Fitzgerald, Gavin J. Fitzgerald, Nathan I. K. Zuleta, Anik J.K.  Zuleta, Sister Jean Lyn Monroe, Brother Lawrence (Kay) MacDonald, Sister Ruth Mast.  Judy is also survived by Sister In laws Anita (Koivunen) McGrew(Jim), Jeanne Koivunen-Kurtz(Craig) and dear Brother In law Alan Koivunen.  Extended family robust with cousins, nieces and nephews & a circle of friends that is as unique as she was.

Judy was a nurturing & amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in law, friend and woman of her own mind.  She lived her best life and if you were fortunate enough to know her you were invited to be a part of that life.  Judy strived to develop a circle of support with friends, family and even strangers that she could lean on and they could lean on each other.  Now is the time to care for each other.

We would like to extend a special Thank You to the Ascension NE Wisconsin St. Elizabeth Campus Cancer Center nurses, nurse practitioners and doctors who helped to manage Judy’s care, to the outstanding nurses and Doctors at St. Elizabeth, Calumet hospital in Chilton and the Hospice team who worked so hard to help her in these last few weeks.   We appreciate all your efforts and the guidance you provided our family when we needed it most.

Judy, we love you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow. When you are remembered, you are always with us.  Thank you for your love, generosity & magic.
