Jonathan Robert Spencer

Jonathan Robert Spencer, 52 years old, passed away from natural causes on August 16, 2021, while residing in Albany, Oregon.  Jonathan was born March 11, 1969, in Lompoc, California at Vandenberg Air Force Base.  Throughout Jon’s life, he ventured while residing in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Wisconsin, North and South Carolina, North Dakota, and finally resting in Oregon.  Jon had a love of our country, history, and teaching.  Jon enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee for 6 years.  During his enlistment, he spent time in Guam, Norway, Japan, and the Hawaiian Islands.  While serving Jon continued on with his education and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and then later received two MBA’s.  The first MBA was in History from Central Michigan University and the second MBA he earned was in Education from The University of Charleston – South Carolina.  Part of Jon’s adventures, he was a middle and high school teacher in North Carolina.  While teaching in North Carolina, Jon received the Teacher of the Year Award for his accomplishments in educating his beloved students about history.  He later relocated to North Dakota where he taught Native Americans in Parshall.

Jonathan is survived by his parents Douglas and Janine Spencer, his younger brothers, sister, sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law, James and Jennifer Spencer, Jeffrey and Kara Spencer and Jacqueline and Christopher Martin, his beloved son, John Patrick Spencer, numerous nephews, Christopher Spencer, Riley Spencer, Michael Spencer, Noah Spencer and Braiden Martin.  Jonathan will be laid to rest at New Milford Center Cemetery in New Milford, Connecticut where many other family members have been laid to rest.

Funeral Services will be held at the Valley Funeral Home 2211 N Richmond Street, Appleton, Wisconsin on September 1, 2021, with visitation between 2:00pm – 3:00pm, with the service following at 3:00pm.
