John Ingalls Obituary

John E. Ingalls, 90, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He was born on December 15, 1929 to the late Edward and Beverly Ingalls (Hodgen) in Kenosha, WI.

In 1947, John joined the 82nd U.S. Airborne. Upon discharge, he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Burmeister on June 1, 1950. He started working at Pierce Manufacturing and from there; he worked at Allis Chambers retiring in 1984. Upon retirement, John and Shirley moved to Reno, Nevada for a few years returning to Appleton to be near their friends and family.

John belonged to the American Legion and VFW Post #38. He loved to watch the Packers, Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing cards, golfing, grilling and gambling. He also really loved working on cars, taking care of his yard and dogs and cats.

John is survived by his 3 children; Linda (John) Franke, Connie Steede, Bonnie (Mark) Timm, 4 grandchildren; Amy (Tony) Isajiw, Christine Mattson, and special friend; Travis, Michael (Rachael) Mattson, Derek Timm, 6 great grandchildren; Courtney, Aliyha, Ambria, Annika, Cameron, and Ethan. He is further survived by 1 sister; Kathy Ponschock, 3 brothers; Tom Leopold, Tim Leopold, Dennis Ingalls, 3 sister in laws; Delores Managen, Phyllis Duquette, Gerie Ingalls and a brother in law; Ron Ponschock.

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife; Shirley, son; Larry Ingalls, daughter; Pam Hammack, 2 brothers; Jim Ingalls, Kenneth, and many other relatives.

 

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM at American Legion 3220 W COLLEGE AVE, APPLETON, WI. with Rev. Dr. Tom Fritz to officiate. Military Honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to the American Legion in Dad’s honor.
