John M. Birr, beloved father, grandfather, and fiancé, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on February 28, 1946, John lived a life full of passion and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
A skilled welder and handyman, John was employed at Kimberly Clark for over 25 years. Outside of work, John found joy in raising and working with his beloved beagles. He was a charter member of the Fox River Beagle Club where he spent many years channeling his love for animals into training and nurturing his dogs and attended many events across the Midwest including Indiana and Illinois. John was an avid traveler and his love for new experiences and memories took him and Linda across the country with some of their favorite destinations being: Destin, Pigeon Forge, Wisconsin Dells, Alaska, and Colorado. His love for travel was matched only by his love for spending time with his children and grandchildren. John spent many hours sitting in bleachers and in the car in order to attend their many activities and events. He was known as a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to others.
John is survived by the love of his life, Linda Garvey; children: Robin (Aaron) Herbner, Krista (Jason) Warner, Lori (Ray) Farr, Penny (Matthew) Cornelius, and Keri (Jody) Lenz; grandchildren: Aston Warner, Quinn Herbner, Parker Herbner, Brody Warner, Gage Farr, RJ Farr, Aaron Cornelius, Stephen Cornelius, Trisha (Braden) Lafeber, and David Lenz; siblings: Mike Birr, Jan (Dave) Huebner, and Kevin (Annie) Birr; and his beloved dog, Sandi.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Myron and Vera Birr; and sister-in-law, Laurie Birr.
