Joan (Manders) Zuleger, 89, of Appleton passed away in her sleep on March 14th, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born in Green Bay, WI on March 9, 1937. She attended Green Bay East High School before going to work as an office manager until she married, Daniel P. Zuleger on April 23, 1960.
While raising her children she continued to share her love of books with the city of Appleton as a librarian at the Appleton Public Library and was an active leader in Girl Scouts for many years. She enjoyed the simple things in life when shared with friends and family. Whether out camping or visiting for dinner most meals were followed by a game of cards or pick up sticks.
Joan is survived by her children, Louise Torkelson, Peter (Terri) Zuleger, (Jim) Welch; her beloved grandchildren Erin Torkelson, Jaime (Jason) Uitenbroek, James Welch, David Welch, Zack (Lydia) Zuleger, Zoey Zuleger; and Great grandchildren Jordyn, Claire and Jacob.
Preceding her in death are, Theodore and Anna Helen Manders (Parents), Daniel P. Zuleger (husband) and Linda Zuleger Welch (daughter).
In accordance with her wishes there will be small celebration of immediate family in the spring to scatter her ashes.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Appleton Public Library via Friends of Appleton Public Library.
