Jerry Wayne Velie

Jerry Wayne Velie, age 80, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2025 with his family. He was born on March 22, 1944, to Arnold and Bernice (Miller) Velie. Jerry grew up in Appleton, WI. where he met Barbara Valley at Wilson Junior High School in 7th grade and then married on May 16th, 1964. The couple proceeded to have two children in Appleton and spent the next 60 years together.

Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and animals of all sorts – especially all the yellow labs he raised and enjoyed taking them for walks in the woods behind their property.

He loved to feed the birds, as well as watching all the deer coming up to the house from the nature center. Jerry was known as a man that could fix anything. The guys at the shop gave him the nickname of “MacGyver”

Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barb; his children: Sharrie (Chad) Corbin, Gary Velie, Taylor and Evan Corbin.

He is further survived by his brother Terry Velie as well as many other good friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother David Velie, and Ronald Velie.

Jerry’s life will be celebrated with a gathering on Friday January 31st, 2025 at Valley Funeral Home, N1858 Greenville Drive, Greenville. Visitation will be held 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm with a service following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jerry Velie Memorial Fund established through Community First Credit Union or to Jerry’s family.

We find comfort in knowing dad’s legacy lives on through the loved he shared and the memories we will cherish forward.
