Jeanette Bishop Obituary

Jeanette M. Bishop, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Green Bay. She was born on June 20, 1928 in Appleton to the late Clarence and Lucille (Schabo) Van Ryzin.

Jeanette was many things in her remarkable life; tireless caregiver, devoted mother and wife, and a perfect 300 Wii bowling game to her credit. But above all else, she loved her family and husband, Don Bishop.

Jeanette opened her heart and home as a foster mother to 210 babies, giving each one love, safety, and a strong start when it mattered most. That legacy alone could define a lifetime but she managed to fit so much more in.

She loved going on walks, doing puzzles and a good game of cards or Yahtzee, which went a lot better when she was winning. Let’s just say she wasn’t a big fan of that losing thing, including a good water balloon fight and if she ever got close to a water hose you better start running.

Jeanette was a fantastic mother, raising six children with strength, humor, and unwavering dedication. Her family was her pride, her purpose, and her number one priority, always.

Her life was full, generous, and deeply loving. She leaves behind countless memories, lessons, laughter, and a legacy of care that reaches far beyond her own family.

Jeanette will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Linda (Lawrence) McCoy, Barbara Vallard, Judy Roth, Joan (Brian) Schmidt, Thomas (Steffanie) Bishop, Daughter-in-law: Carol Bishop; grandchildren: David McCoy, Angela Urtnowski, Tim (Shannon) Konitzer, Jason Bishop, Thomas (Hannah) Bishop, Melissa (Joe) Jahnke, Jessica (Steve) Mohr, Mike (Crista) Roth, Brad (Lindsey) Schmidt, Craig (April) Schmidt, Katie (Andy) Schink-Pawlowski, Nicholas (Taylor) Bishop, Jennifer (Jerome) Foster; and granddaughter-in-law: Kelly McCoy; 38 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Eugene Van Ryzin; Sister, Edith Nollan;. She was further preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bishop; son, Donald Bishop; son- in-law, Thomas Roth and David Vallard; grandson, Michael McCoy; grandson-in-law, Todd Schink; siblings: Sister Martina Van Ryzin, Richard (Ada) Van Ryzin, Virginia (Dean) Kamps, James (Dorothy) Van Ryzin; and brother-in-law, Eugene Nollan.

You were there,
When we took our first breath.
You were there,
When we were down and needed a hand.
You erased our pain and
Encouraged our dreams, no matter what we went through You were there.

So yesterday while holding your hand, you opened your eyes to look toward your future, while we sat in your past with tears rolling down our cheeks,
Mourning the loss of the woman who gave everything she could to help us through and keep us safe.

So with heavy hearts,
And saddened souls.
We will go on,
We will survive,
Because of all those times,
YOU WERE THERE
