Jean Errington Obituary

Jean Errington, age 91, passed away peacefully at Brewster Village on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.  Jean was born on May 22, 1933 in Appleton to Clarence and Laura (Feistel) Muenster. She graduated from Freedom High School and went on to work at the Appleton Wire Works for a short time. Jean married William Errington on September 13, 1952.  Together they raised 3 daughters and were together over 62 years before Bill passed in 2015. 

Jean was a stay-at-home mom and loved baking.  She was well known in the neighborhood for her chocolate chip cookies.  Bill and Jean enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling the country and spending time at their camper in Star Lake, Wisconsin. They also enjoyed walking at the mall, where they made many lasting friendships. Jean enjoyed being a poll worker during elections for many years, bowling and golfing. She was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Kathy Errington, Pat Hackbarth, and Barb (Bob) Van Eperen; grandchildren Rachel (Rendall Marquette) Van Eperen, Nathan Van Eperen, Jennifer (Mitch)Torres and Nick Hackbarth; great grandchildren Jacob, Evelyn, Isabella, Bennett, Lilliann and Preston; sister Judy Gonnering; sisters-in-law Gin Muenster, Donna Matenaer, Lois Errington; brother-in-law Ron Kressin. Jean is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill, granddaughter Emily Van Eperen, son-in-law Mitch Hackbarth; parents-in-law Robert and Eleanor Errington; brothers Glenn Muenster, Wayne Muenster, sister Carol Kressin, sister-in-law Nancy Van Den Elsen, brothers-in-law Jim Errington, Ves Gonnering and Jim Van Den Elsen.

Funeral Mass for Jean will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Parish (1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton).  Friends and family will gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Jean will be laid to rest beside Bill in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

Memorials will be directed by the family to St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Brewster Village.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Brewster Village who cared for Jean the last 6 years, especially Roaslie, Deanna, Cayla, Judy, and Roberta. Jean developed many friendships with the other villagers and they became like a second family to her.
