James Douglas Cox (Jimmy, Jim), 78 from the Town of Center passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Lucy) of 44 Years, Daughter Cindy (Mark) Luft, Son Mike (Becky) Cox. Granddaughters Brittany and Violet. Grandsons Brandon, Kaine and Zander. Great Grandchildren Lillian and Ryker. Sister Carol Priebe (Arizona) , Brother in-law Ted Barnett (Nebraska) and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family from all over.
Jim was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to everyone he met. There wasn’t a waitress, nurse, or child that he couldn’t make smile.
Jim loved working in his garage on different projects and helping others work on theirs. His prized possession (besides his wife) was his 1925 Ford Model TT truck that he rebuilt and restored piece by piece by himself over many years. He loved showing the truck off at local car shows, sharing the history and of the truck and taking kids for rides.
Jim worked as a Machinist most of his life. He finished his career working for Rayovac Corporation and Hafemeister Machine Shop in Neenah, WI. Everyone knew, if it was broken, Jim could fix it. Well, he at least had the tools to fix it. The knowledge may have come later. He would always figure it out.
Jim also liked to have dinner at his favorite local restaurant The Legacy Club in Appleton on Fridays. This is where he fine tuned his craft of making waitresses smile. Right Kim?
He also enjoyed gardening (Probably so he could eat a lot of salt with his fresh veggies), hunting (Most likely because his amazing son came with him), grilling (That’s what Dads do), shooting guns (with his daughter) and spending time with his family (Let’s be honest, the grandkids).
Jim was also a Veteran and served out country as a rifleman. This is where he met his best friend, Buffalo Bill.
There will be a gathering on Saturday October 8th from 1-4 at their residence to celebrate Jim’s life. If you plan on attending, you can go to Blatz911.com for more details.
