James (Jim) Van Domelen Obituary

James (Jim) Van Domelen was born on Monday, September 2, 1946 (Labor Day) to his parents, Sylvester (Ves) and Agnes (Burke) Van Domelen at Kaukauna Community Hospital and was raised in Little Chute Wisconsin. He lost a nearly 12 year battle to metastatic prostate cancer on January 25, 2020.

Jim married his soul mate, Sandra (Sandy Treiber) on May 3, 1969 at St, Philomena's Church in Chicago, Illinois. After the wedding Jim and sandy moved to Wisconsin where they raised three sons: Rick (Carmen) Mike (Diana), and Steve (Lisa). From these three couples came six loving and wonderful grandchildren: Jacqi (Jamie) Jones, Emma (significant other, Steven Van Wychen), Jordon, Marley, Mason, and Brooklyn. They were also blessed with three great grandsons: Adrian and Caiden Jones and Landon Van Wychen. (A fourth great grandson, Hunter Van Wychen is due in May).

Jim also served in the United States Army from late 1966 through late 1968. He was stationed in Viet Nam for a year.

Jim is further survived by his brother, Jerry (Mary) and sister-in-law, Evie Treiber Boyke as well as nephews: Jason (Cheryl) Kelly-Van Domelen, Ken (Justine) Boyke, and nieces: Laura (Kevin) Leisch, Kristen (significant other Raymond) Boyke, and Kassy (Sean) Costello, as well as 7 great nieces and 4 great nephews. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend, Dave (Alice) Evers.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ves and Agnes, as well as his in-laws, Ervin and Yolanda (Dolly) Treiber.

Jim's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church; N2926 State Hwy 47 Appleton, WI 54915.  Fr. Walter Stumpf will officiate.   Visitation will be held on Saturday February 8, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.   Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank all his doctors and nurses, as well as the Hospice team who took such good care of him. We are so grateful to all of them for their love, care, and concern. Jim couldn't have asked for more wonderful caretakers. We cannot thank all of these people enough for all they did not just for Jim but for his family as well.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to St. Jude's Hospital, which both Jim and Sandy have donated to for years. It would be appreciated.  Thank you.
