James "Jim" Gorges Obituary

James “Jim” Gerald Gorges, age 76 of Black Creek, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family on January 31, 2026.

He was born June 12th, 1949 to the late Gordon and Dorthy Gorges. Jim was a graduate of Seymour High School and later went on to serve for the United States Air Force.

He was united in marriage to his loving wife Peggy (Sager), celebrating 40 wonderful years together.

Jim was an industrial electrician until retirement in 2014. He took a lot of pride in his work.

After retirement, Jim took every opportunity he could to be with his family. He was always tinkering with something and never hesitated to lend a shoulder in times of need, often making others projects and problems his own. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Peggy. From their Sunday night dinners to their nightly game of cribbage. His children and grandchildren made his world go round, never missing an opportunity to be involved in something they were doing. From spending years at the stock car races to summers at the baseball diamond, where he was always the biggest fan. He was a loving, family man who brought joy, comfort, and so much laughter to everyone in his life.

He is survived by his wife: Peggy; children Justin (Kayla) Gorges, Todd (Brenda) Bartel, Chad Bartel (special friend Kelly), Shelbi (Ron) Ross, grandchildren: Mason, Walker and Emmie Gorges, Aubree Jorgenson, Zach (Maggie) Bartel, Libby (Mike) Nieto, Taylor Ross, and Jordan Ross (special friend Hoi); great grand-children: Lilly Bartel, Parker Bartel and Grace Nieto. Further survived by his siblings; Sharri (Marv) Hintz, Rick (Marion) Gorges, Dennis Gorges, Julie (Dick) Jacobsen, Duane (Carrie) Gorges, Todd Gorges; in-laws; Bob (Cherie) Sager, Steve (Barb) Sager, Scott (Debbie) Sager and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gene Gorges, sister in-law Jo Gorges, nephew Terry Hintz; his father and mother in-law Milton and Sally Sager, sister in-law Sue Diermier, brother in-law Jerry Diermier, and nephew Sean Sager.
