James B. Young, age 90, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 7, 2025 at Heartwood Homes in Appleton. He was born on November 12, 1934 in Appleton son of the late Benjamin and Elsie (Anderson) Young. After graduating from Appleton High School, Jim proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. On May 14, 1966 he married Wanda R. Lang. Jim was a devoted husband and a family man. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, and telling stories. His charm and his sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Wanda; his children: Jeff (Lisa) Young, Reedsburg, WI, Charla Young, Camp Verde, AZ, Karmyn (Neil) Merkes, Appleton, Neil (Gwen) Young, Waupaca, WI; grandchildren: Nicky (Paul) Behnke, Ryan (Josie) Young, Brittany Ferrell, Evan Merkes; 7 great grandchildren; sister Joni (James) Besaw, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Appleton Alliance Church (2693 W. Grand Chute Blvd., Grand Chute) with Rev. Ronald Hintz and Rev. Paul Behnke officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Military Honors will be performed at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jim’s name.
