James A. Edwards, 80, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. He was born on August 16, 1945 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to the late Eugene and Martha (Stein) Edwards. He grew up in Kenosha and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Shangri-La. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life.
On December 20, 1972, Jim married the love of his life, Sharon Fanning. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories. Jim had a strong work ethic and dedicated many years to serving his community through a variety of careers. He worked at American Brass and Johns Manville for several years. He also worked for the Kenosha Cab Company, where fate led him to meet his future wife, Sharon. Later, he became an employee of American Motors, where he remained until his retirement.
In the early years of his retirement, Jim landed in Sparta for many years where he enjoyed bowling, coffee clutch’s, and time with friends and family. In his later retirement years, he relocated to Appleton finding joy in several bowling leagues over the years including senior and couples bowling leagues. One of his proudest achievements was winning the Kenosha City Bowling Tournament. He was an avid fisherman, loved playing pool as well as cribbage, and enjoyed the creativity of making beautiful string art. Above all else, Jim treasured the time he spent with his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Edwards; children: Brian Edwards, Danny Edwards, Melissa (Charles) Kelly, and Robert Edwards; grandchildren: Jason, Cornelius, Brooke, Kayla, Morgan, Robert, Steven, Ryan and Karilynn; great grandchildren: Emmit, Blazer, Raelyn, Peyton, Jaxon, Ellie, Vivian, Vincent, Sophia, Owen, Tristen, Madi, Ryker, Milo, and David Joseph; siblings: Karen (Danny) Price and Bob (Lana) Edwards; as well as several nieces and nephews.
