James A. Benzschawel, age 77 of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2023. He was born in Appleton to the late Andrew and Marie (Santkuyl) Benzschawel. On November 4, 1967 he married Barbara J. Biese. He worked for Zwickers Knitting Mill for 28+ years. Jim was known for his quick come backs and his long stories and conversations. Jim enjoyed Musky Fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewers. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed going for walks with little Zeke and playing with the great-grand children.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Thomas Benzschawel (special friend Lori Batista), grandchildren; Brad (Brett) Krahn and Sarah (Shae) Troy, great grandchildren; Ezekiel, Elijah and Kahlix. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Norman Steffens, Appleton, Henry (Pam) Biese, Seymour, Gerald (Ruth) Biese, Seymour, Joan (David) Lease, Wasilla Alaska, William (Linda) Biese, Black Creek, Joseph (Sue) Biese, Black Creek, Carol (Sam) VanDyke, Green Bay, Janice (Dale) Schuessler, Seymour, Richard (Kim) Biese, Burns, Tennessee, good friends, Noel and Joan Yohr and well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Marie Benzschawel, twin sister Judy Benzschawel, step-sister Maryln Stiebs, father and mother-in-law Elzer and Rita Biese, sisters-in-law, Mary Steffens and Tina Troy.
A memorial service for Jim will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Valley Funeral Home; 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton at 4pm, visitation will be held from 3pm until the time of service. James will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
The family would like to thank the Town of Grand Chute personnel and first responders for all their kindness.
