Helen E. Brahm, 96, formerly from Darboy (Buchanan), departed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on April 18, 2025.  She was born June 30, 1928 to the late Herbert and Nathalie (Hersekorn) Schabow in Appleton, WI.

Helen was a lifetime faithful member of St. Matthew Church where she was baptized on July 15, 1928 by Rev. Philip Froehlke. She attended for eight years at the St. Matthew one room school and was confirmed on March 29, 1942 by Rev. Sylvester Johnson. After her confirmation she was a Sunday school teacher, involved with Bible classes, the Dorcas Society, and sang in the choir.  In her later years she was in Ladies Aid, a greeter at church, attended Bible Studies, and prayer groups.

Helen graduated from Appleton High School in 1946 and went to work for AAL and then Kimberly Clark. She also worked at Georges Sweet Shop, Zwickers Knitting Mill, and Reetz’s Supper Club.

For 20 years, from 1972 to 1992, she was the owner and operator of The Cage Tavern and was a charter member for the Outagamie County Tavern League. She cleaned homes for many families in the area and did volunteer work when able.

On September 13, 1947 she married the late Ronald C. Green at St. Matthew Church, and is survived by four of their six children:

Carolyn McFarlane, Combined Locks and her five children: Kelly Harris (Marvin), Oshkosh; Lisa Duffy, Appleton; Natalie Vander Loop (Tony), Greenville; William Unmuth, Appleton; and Erin Spengler, West Allis.

Christine Thompson, Antigo and her five children: Danny Meyer, Elk Mound; Lena Klosterman, Antigo; Linda (Casey) Smith, Bryant; Clifford (Whitney) Thompson, Antigo; Jerome Thompson, Antigo.

Cynthia (John) Sieracki, Appleton and their four children; Amanda Fuerst, Wauwatosa; Adam (Kori) Fuerst, Fox Point; Anna Sieracki, Oshkosh; and Thomas Sieracki, Kenosha.

Cheryl (Al) Krause, Milwaukee and their three children; Michelle Krause-Mendoza, Kyle Krause, and Katie (Bo) Mrazik all Milwaukee.

Also, one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Green, Appleton; and her son David (Tina), Green Bay.

Granddaughter, Jennifer (Lee) Bryan, Evansville, IN.

Helen is also survived by 27 great grandchildren: Nicole, Jacob, Gereon, Jordon, Alexandria, Gavin, Brandon, Morgana, Kimberlei, Kaden, Kendall, Samantha, Lydia, Casey Jr., Autumn, Anthony, Adam, Seth, Blaze, Virginia, Logan, Makayla, Jade, Montana, Hunter, Julia, and Ezra.

Helen is also survived by seven step great grandchildren, nine great, great grandchildren and six step great, great grandchildren.

She is further survived many nieces, nephews and extended family of relatives and friends.

On January 2, 1982 she married the late Eugene J. Brahm, Jr. and is survived by his four children: Susan (Timothy) Westphal, Appleton; Diane (Douglas) Kossel, Milford, OH; Mary Brahm, Waukesha; and James Brahm, DePere, and his special friend Kristine Powers. She is also survived by Eugene’s eight grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband (Ron) of 33 years and husband (Gene) of 33 years; two sons, David Green and Daniel Green; two sons-in-law, Chester Thompson and Jerry McFarlane; one daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Green; one grandson, William Green; five brothers, Alvin, Norman, Gordon, Armin, and Edwin Schabow; four sisters, Marion Merkl, JoAnn Franzke, Evelyn Meitner, and Jean Sasman; four sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Schabow, Enid Schabow, Jean Karwieck, and Ila Schabow; and four brothers-in-law, Carl Meitner, George Merkle, Orlo Sasman, and George Franzke.

Helen loved to wear her classy and colorful hats with matching outfits and would enjoy all the nice compliments that she would receive.

Special thanks to Brad Schinke and other officers of the Outagamie Tavern League for always thinking of her and including her as an honorary member.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly. Those in the memory care unit cared for her over the past two years as if she was family. The wonderful staff that did the activities and made sure she made it to bingo and other events; all of you made her feel special.

There are many more individuals who called, visited, and sent cards which made her feel very special. She appreciated all the love that was given to her.

Helen wanted everyone know that she had a good life and if you shed tears, let them be happy tears as she has finally made it home.

The funeral service for Helen will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N.
