Harry E. Boll, age 92 of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1930 to the late Harry C. and Tillie (Schomberg) Boll in Sheboygan Wisconsin. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea until 1953. On August 28, 1954 he married Carole Hoffman and together they moved to Appleton to start their lives together, and they were together for 61 years until she passed on July 13, 2016. Harry, along with Carole, were members of Fox Valley Golf Course, Appleton Curling Club and First Congregational Church. Music was his avocation and his life. At age 15 he played saxophone in a polka band and from then on he played in numerous bands including the 40th division band in Korea. The last band was Harry and The Jazz Rats. Harry said he met the most wonderful people because of his music; his sax went wherever he went.
He is survived by his children; Patti (Andrew Baker) Boll Traas and James (Andrea) Boll, grandchildren; Lydia (Jeffrey) Sanborn, Rutger, Emerson, Dagmar and Palmer Boll, great grandchildren; Revan, Aedan and Lennon as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Eugene Boll.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at The Stone Toad, 1109 S. Oneida St., Menasha. Memorial contributions in Harry’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
