Gordon F. Baumgart Jr.

Gordon F. Baumgart, Jr. 82, passed on August 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.  Gordon was born on December 5, 1942 to Gordon and Edith (DeGroot) Baumgart at great aunt Esther DeGroot’s home where he lived all his life.  He was a veteran having served in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. Soley DD 707.  On July 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Ulmer and they spent 61 exciting years together.  On April 1, 1983 he started Piping Service, Incorporated and carried out his dream for the remainder of his life.  Gordon collected antique cars, restored old tractors and was an avid deer hunter.  He enjoyed hunting with his son, Fred.  Gordon also enjoyed farming and taking care of his yard.  He was always moving and dedicated to completing every task he started. 

Gordon is survived by his wife Beverly, son Fred (Jessica) Baumgart, brothers; John Baumgart and Michael (Pat) Baumgart, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Frederick (Sandy) Ulmer, Darlene (Mark) Griesbach, Elaine Schiebe and Barbara Ulmer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Gordon was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Rutten, parents, Gordon and Edith (DeGroot) Baumgart; his father and mother in-law, Albert and Ruth Ulmer, his great aunt Esther DeGroot, siblings; Carl “Big Freddie” Baumgart and Elizabeth Jarchow, and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Lawrence Ulmer, Raymond (Francis) Ulmer, and Russell Schiebe, nephew Jesse Baumgart, and a niece Erica Baumgart

The funeral mass for Gordon will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks.  A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N.
