Gilbert Herman Meyer

Gilbert Herman Meyer, 87, of Menasha passed away on Friday, November 6th, 2020 at The Landings Assisted Living in Kaukauna. He was born on June 10th, 1933 in Neenah. The son of Herman and Pearl (Ashley) Meyer. On January 21st, 2011 he married Mary (Dietzen) in Oshkosh.

Gilbert enjoyed keeping his hands busy by woodworking, leather tooling, maintenance and repair on his vehicles, yard care at his home and in Door county. Gib was a very caring man; willing to help anyone until the job was done. Gib enjoyed traveling all over the nation and taking cruises, with his most recent being “The Disney Cruise.” Gib loved animals, especially collie dogs—having many Lance’s and Lucky’s.

There wasn’t anything Gib couldn’t do. He built his own home, constructed a huge water fall in his backyard, and maintained a pond with many koi. He loved camping, walking in the woods, making campfires (especially in his backyard); and that’s how he met Mary. Gib especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Gilbert is survived by: his wife Mary Dietzen-Meyer of Menasha, step-son Michael (Christine) Dietzen, step-grandchildren Blake and Brooke, brother Bernard Meyer, and two God-children Lynne Krueger and Michael Downs, among many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his dog, Teddy. Gib is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gloria (Gene) Bucholtz, Barbara (Neal) Downs, and his first wife Lu (nee Krieling) Meyer.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Mausoleum Cemetery in Neenah.
