Gerda B. (Springstroh) Kuba

Gerda B. (Springstroh) Kuba, 95, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born in Freedom, WI, December 15, 1925, the second child and oldest daughter of 13 children born to Otto and Minna (Kuschel) Springstroh. She was baptized January 1, 1926, and confirmed April 2, 1939, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Freedom. Gerda was the oldest lifetime member of St. Peter. She and Antone (Tony) Kuba were married by a Justice of the Peace December 1, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Gerda is survived by her son Jerald (Jerry), Black Creek; daughter Luann (Mark) Balkman, Grand Chute; and daughter Janis (Christopher) Giordanelli, South Carolina; three grandsons, Eric (Jennifer) Balkman, Appleton; Jared Balkman, Madison; and Michael (Lucy) Balkman, Mequon; and five great-grandchildren, Lucas and Emma Balkman, Appleton; and Isaac, Samuel, and Eevie Balkman, Mequon. Gerda is further survived by siblings Orla Schmidt, Nora Herman, Arlin (Janet) Springstroh, Victor (Patricia) Springstroh, Myrna (Ronald) Witt, Alice Riehl, sister-in-law Judy Springstroh, sister-in-law Kathy Holcomb, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Gerda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (1987) and his parents Wenzel and Emma (Koss) Kuba; her siblings: Walter Springstroh, Lester Springstroh, Melda Behle, Edgar Springstroh, Carol Wenninger, and John Springstroh; and in-laws: Eunice (Herman) Springstroh, Robert Behle, Leslie Herman, Donald Wenninger, and Vernon Riehl; and Tony’s siblings and their spouses; Charles Kuba; Wenzel (Jim) (Margaret Griesbach) Kuba; Rose (Sylvester) Rataczyak, Lillian (John) Dresang, Agnes (Howard Kobs) (Don) Verkuilen, and Richard Holcomb, as well as nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Gerda will be Friday, December 17, 2021, beginning at 9:30 am, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, N2740 French Rd, Appleton 54913, until the time of service at 11am.

In lieu of flowers please direct any memorials to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fox Valley Lutheran High School, or Time of Grace Ministries.
