Gerald Frailing Obituary

Gerald W. Frailing, 95, went to his heavenly home to join his Lord and Savior on April 25, 2026.  Jerry was born on October 10, 1930 in Appleton to the late Hildegarde and Arwin Frailing.  On September 1, 1956 Jerry married the late Karen M. Wojahn at St Matthews Church in Appleton. Along with Karen, Jerry was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church.  They loved to attend church and several bible classes.  Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948 and spent time in Itazuke AFB, Japan and Kimpo AFB, South Korea during the Korean War.  After graduating from Oshkosh Normal School and obtaining his Masters at UW Madison, Jerry taught at public schools in Ft. Atkinson, Manitowoc, and Appleton.  He also taught at the technical school level in Appleton and Milwaukee area.  He spent several years in data processing in the business world as well.  Shortly after retirement, in 1992, he helped build several houses and worked on other projects with Habitat for Humanity.  Jerry also spent many years in the 90’s baking at the Salvation Army for their noon lunch program.  He was a long-time member of Appleton MacDowell Male Chorus and served as president for the bicentennial (1975-76) presentation of “I Love America”.  Jerry and his loving wife, Karen, had 3 children; Dan Frailing and Rebecca Verkuilen of Appleton, and Andy (Teri) Frailing of Menomonee Falls.  They have 2 grandchildren, Ben and Morgan. Jerry is also survived by siblings Bill (Sharon), Tom and Mike.  Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Karen, his parents, his siblings; Richard (Margaret), Robert (Shirley), Marilyn (Elmer) Kunstman, Sharon Rose and sisters-in-law Louise and Carol.

The funeral service for Jerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the Highland Memorial Park, Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton with Pastor Daniel Thews officiating.  A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the chapel.  For online condolences please visit www.valleyfh.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army of Appleton or Harbor House Shelter of Appleton.
