On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Francis Joseph Denslinger, loving husband to Donna and father of six children, passed away at the age of 100. Francis was born on October 27, 1921, in Greenville, Pennsylvania to Frank and Mary Catherine Doran Denslinger. Francis was a World War II veteran. He served as a Corporal in the 739th Field Artillery Battalion during the infamous Normandy campaign. After returning home, he attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania graduating with a degree in English and followed that with graduate studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He started his working career at Hammermill Paper Co. in Erie as a production planner and retired from there in 1983.
Francis Denslinger was married to Donna Marie Wagner on June 25, 1947. The two were inseparable for 74 years until her passing last year on his 100th birthday. Together, they raised six children: three daughters Joanne, Mary, Ann and three sons John, Paul, Gerald.
Francis treasured the simple things in life: family gatherings, picnics, woodworking, horseshoes, tending his roses, Pittsburgh Pirate baseball and Pittsburgh Steelers football. As a father, he was a role model. As a husband, he was adoring and a life-long companion.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, and sisters, Sr. Jeannette Denslinger (Sisters of Mercy) and Teresa Ferrara. He is survived by his six children and their spouses: Joanne Rowicki (David, deceased), Mary & Frank Dowling, Ann & Don Weber, John & Linda Denslinger, Paul & Kathie Denslinger, Gerald & Billie Denslinger, sixteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Rosanske.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. Mc Donald Street, Appleton, WI. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Military Honors.
