Elizabeth Bergholtz Bridges Obituary

Elizabeth (Betsy) Rose Bergholtz Bridges unexpectedly showed up on God’s doorstep, as good friends do on Friday, September 17th 2021. Betsy was born in Appleton on September 1st, 1991 to Wayne and Cindy Bergholtz. She was known by many names: Betsy, Betsy Boo, or Boo Boo to her parents, friends, and family. Buttsy to her sister. Momma to her beloved kitties. Elizabeth to acquaintances and people who may or may not have been exhausted by her sassiness at that moment. But her most favorite name of all was Auntie Boots to her 2 nephews.

Betsy followed her heart of gold down a career path as a proud LPN and was working so hard towards becoming an RN. She had immeasurable compassion for the elderly and took such joy in caring for her patients. Compassion and love did not stop outside of her professional life, she was constantly helping others in every way imaginable. Betsy would pour so much of herself, her energy, and her love into family, friends, and strangers that she would often forget to take care of herself.

In her free time Betsy loved to play/snuggle/be silly with her nephews, craft with her cricut, meet up with her friends at Tigers, or took a good old-fashioned nap with her kitties. She never missed an opportunity to pick out a Christmas tree, go to the zoo with her nephews, or go up to the family cabin in Cayuga where she would catch frogs, fish, ATV, chase waterfalls, or sit out by the fire.

Betsy will be dearly missed by her parents Wayne and Cindy (Shefka) Bergholtz; her sister, Stephanie (Alfredo) Bergholtz; 2 nephews, Jackson and Jace; her kitties Gus Gus and Mollie. In addition, she will be missed by Troy Bridges, many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly and as their own, and about 150 best friends.

When Betsy arrived in heaven, she was wrapped in the warm embrace of her maternal grandparents, Walter and Laurie Shefka and her paternal grandparents, Al and Betty Bergholtz. Not so patiently waiting behind her grandparents were her puppies Bailey, Baxter, and Shadow who we’re sure were trying to contain their excitement in seeing their best friend once again.

Celebration of life will take place at Tanner’s Bar & Grill in Kimberly on Saturday September 25th from 12-4pm. Hor d’oeuvres will be served. Under the current climate, we encourage wearing a mask when not eating or drinking. Dress as Betsy would, comfy pants and a soft sweatshirt unless that makes you uncomfortable then wear what best suits you.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite animal shelter to save kitties. Call that friend to get coffee. Tell that person that you can see how hard they are working and trying. Be kind to yourself and practice self-love and acceptance.
