Elaine Neville

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Elaine (Mack) Neville, 95, of Appleton, Wisconsin, on March 6, 2025. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Elaine moved to Wisconsin as a child and later married Leo Neville Sr. in 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Neillsville.

Before her passing, Elaine reflected on her life; including living through the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the September 11th attacks, the Global War on Terror, and the COVID-19 pandemic. She reminisced about spending her early years in Chicago during Prohibition, especially playing Double Dutch on Maxwell Street and being grazed by a bullet while watching a gun battle unfold between detectives and robbers. Although she left school at age 12 to help support her family, Elaine was proud of the GED she earned in her 60s.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Leo Neville Sr.; her brothers: Glenn, Terrance, and Thomas; and sisters: Dorothy, Mary Ann, and Beverly.

Elaine is survived by sisters: Shirley, Betty Lou, and Karen; children: Yvonne Marcotte,  Leo Neville Jr., Michael Neville (Amber), Patrick Neville (Denise), Maryann Kohlmann (Kurt), and Brian Neville; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Elaine will be fondly remembered for her strong work ethic, curiosity, and kindness.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 14, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with a reception and burial to follow.
