Elaine (Sturm) Kurey passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, May 15, 2026. She lived 93 beautiful years filled with family, friends, and many blessings. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Elaine was born on March 22, 1933 in Appleton to the late George and Elizabeth Sturm. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, LeRoy Kurey, on June 16, 1953. Elaine had many wonderful qualities: she was an outstanding cook, an avid baker, an exceptional gardener, and a true jack-of-all-trades on the Kurey Family Farm. One of her greatest highlights, along with her late husband LeRoy, was hosting Breakfast on the Farm in May of 1994. Elaine was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville and a dedicated member of the Christian Mothers.
Elaine leaves behind her greatest legacy: her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: June (Ervin Jr.) Van Camp: Jeremy (Jenny) Van Camp, Lauren, Lindsey and Lexie; Karina (Joe) Hemme, Riley, Reece and Amelia; Melissa (Nick) Cordy, Jada, Bella and Braxton; Brandon (Dana) Van Camp, Kason, Kyler and Hadley. Ronald (Deborah) Kurey: Travis (Kari) Kurey, Loryn and Brooke; Jason Kurey (deceased); Trisha (Michael) Wilbert, Claire, Theodore, Olivia and Charlotte; Justin (fiancée Lauren) Kurey; Ashley (Nathan) Thompson. Kenneth (Lynn) Kurey: Amber (Darren) Reiland, Jaxon, Khloe and Wyatt; Amanda (Darby) Evert, Gryphon and Evangeline. Rick (Liz) Kurey: Megan Parker, McKenna Kurey and Madison Kurey.
She is also survived by her sister, Patty Griesbach and brothers and sister-in-law: George (Mary) Sturm and Cyril Sturm.
Elaine joins in Heaven her husband, LeRoy; her grandson, Jason; her parents: George and Elizabeth Sturm; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Philip and Alexia Kurey; her sisters, brothers and in-laws: Lorraine (Leon) Ulman, Bernice (Cliff) Ulman, Rita (Rich) Pritzl, Ted (Francis) Sturm, Helen (Shorty) Wittman, Al (Marilyn) Sturm and Glen Griesbach. She also joins many other relatives and friends.
Elaine especially cherished her weekly visits with Deacon Jeff Hofacker, who was truly a blessing to her and the entire family.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you for the tender, loving care shown to our mother by the staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living, which she considered home for the last six years. We also extend our sincere gratitude to ThedaCare Hospice, Jackie at Community Care, Father Raju Palleti, and all who supported Elaine and her family during this time.
A Funeral Mass for Elaine will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church-Mackville, N2926 State Hwy 47, Appleton, with Father Raju Palleti and Deacon Jeff Hofacker officiating. Visitation will begin at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the Mass. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
