Edward Steinberg Obituary

Edward (Ed) Allen Steinberg, 91, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee. Edward was born in Two Rivers, WI on November 10, 1931 to the late John and Viola (Diedrich) Steinberg. Edward married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Ann Yentz, on October 18, 1952; 5 days later he left to serve in the Army for two years during the Korean War. After returning, he and Beverly started a family while Edward and his brothers struck out as entrepreneurs, opening Northwest Supply in 1968. Ed and Bev went on to have six children, sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In his later years, Ed worked as a courier for the Community Blood Center until retiring at the age of 85. He loved the outdoors - turkey hunting, deer hunting, musky fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and a good cigar and Manhattan. But most of all, he loved spending time with his “awesome” family.

Edward is survived by his children; Michael (Laura) Steinberg, James (Randi) Steinberg, Sharon Grothe, Lynn (Steve) Wheeler, Lorie (Ronald) Young, Jill (Dale) Kohl, grandchildren; Meghan (Alex) Harris, Angela Steinberg (fiancé Josh), Audrey Steinberg, Lindsay (John) Barrick, Mallory Steinberg, Hayley (Joe) Hackel, Amanda (Cory) Cundy, Benjamin (Lisa) Grothe, Jaclyn (John) Degenhardt, Madelyn Wheeler, Joshua (Melissa) Young, Amber Hernandez, Joshua (Krystal) Young, Grace Young, Jesse Kohl (special friend Cassie), Emma Kohl (fiancé Tristian); sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Hamilton and multiple nieces and nephews.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; son-in-law, Steve Grothe; sister, Janis (Andrew) Foate; brothers, Wayne (Joan) Steinberg, Richard (Sandy) Steinberg and William Steinberg.

Family and friends may gather from 11am-1pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church; 530 W. Parkway Blvd, Appleton, WI. A service followed by Military Honors will be held at 1pm. Edward will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.

The service will be live streamed on the Bethany Lutheran Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bethanyappleton

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all VA Clinics and the VA Hospital in Milwaukee for all of the compassionate care Edward received.
