Dorothy June (Presteen) Henke

Dorothy June Henke, 97, of Appleton WI, passed away on June 1, 2022 at Brewster Village in Appleton.

Dorothy was born September 30, 1924 in Fertile MN to the late Henry and Lena (nee Bundrick) Presteen.  On June 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to the late Carl Henke.  

Dorothy enjoyed gardening and tending to her tulips, watching birds and was known to help others.  But most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Larry Henke, Duane (Carol) Henke, Bonnie Delco, David Henke and Diane Tyler, grandchildren; Penny (Dennis) Johnsen, Cricket (Andy) Handrich, Jason (Amber) Henke, Nikki (Dan) Berndt, Bashú (Andrea) Delco, D’Aire (Maria Tichy) Delco and Amber Tyler, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, son Donald Henke, son-in-law Ernie Delco, siblings; Mildred (Reinhard) Sommers, Margaret (Herman) Schmaling, Elva (Martin) Anderson, Lauretta (Gordon) Rohm and Lucille (Roy) Schultz and Harold/Bud (Bess) Presteen, sibling-in-law; Willard (Mitzi) Henke, Arthur (Helen) Henke and Nolan (Ethel) Volkman. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 10 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton, WI.  Visitation will begin at 9:30am, until service to follow at 11:30am.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at ThedaCare Hospice and Brewster Village for all their care and kindness that they gave Dorothy during her final days.  You are all angels.
