Dorothy Mae (Puls) Forslund

Dorothy M. Forslund, 97, passed away peacefully at Prairie Home Elder Services on November 30, 2024. 

She was born Dorothy Mae Puls on May 19, 1927 to Alice (Hartsworm) and Walter Puls.  Dorothy was baptized on 7/3/1927 at the Ev. Lutheran Church in Stephenville, WI.  She grew up on the family farm in Ellington and was confirmed at St. John’s Church in Appleton.   She worked at Lawrence University and later Zwicker Knitting Mill. 

She married Walter Yandre Jr. on 10/30/48 who proceeded her in death on 1/25/55.  She later met and married Lee Forslund on 6/15/1957.  They were very happily married for 38 years, until Lee’s passing on 2/23/1986. 

Lee and Dorothy made their home in Neenah.  Dorothy’s hobbies included bowling, crocheting, sewing, and watching and listening to sports.  She was an avid Milwaukee Brewer fan and loved baseball season and especially enjoyed listening to Bob Uecker and his stories when he was announcing.  She was also a true green and gold fan and loved the Packers. Dorothy made the best sea foam candy at Christmas, as well as delicious fruit cakes (even converting non-fruit cake lovers), and great potato dumplings. 

She was loved by all who met her.  She was proceeded in death by her husbands Walter and Lee, three brothers, Leeland Puls, Lloyd (Ruth) Puls, Mahlon (Fern) Puls, and two sisters, Ethel (Francis) Magolski, and Eunice (Leonard) Abendroth, and sister-in-law Edith Forslund Kern.   

Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews; Godson Mike Puls, Steven Puls, Carol Jean Magolski Handrich, Gary (Donna) Puls, Debbie Abendroth, Donald Abendroth, Bob Abendroth, Lynn (Richard) Schnell and Rick (Dawn) Abendroth, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,  Neenah, and a faithful servant of the Lord.  Dorothy will be buried at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Appleton. 

The Memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton.  A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. For online condolences and a full obituary please visit www.valleyfh.com.
