Dorothy Jean (Suehring) Dallmann

Dorothy J. Dallmann, age 78 of Appleton, WI, passed away on July 29, 2021. She was born December 18, 1942 in Shawano, WI; the daughter of Reinhold and Selma (Jesse) Suehring. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pella, WI. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1961. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Lee Dallmann, the love of her life on September 23, 1961 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, three sons and 59 wonderful and inseparable years together. They moved their young family to Appleton, WI in 1969.

After raising her children, Dorothy started employment part-time with Gibson Greeting Cards for three years; TV32-Appleton for five years until it closed; Fox Valley Spring-Appleton (10+ years) until her retirement the end of 2002.

Dorothy was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church, Appleton, WI for 52 years. She was highly involved at the church. She served as both Secretary and Treasurer, sewed numerous quilts with the Grace Quilters for those in need, helped with funeral meals, supported the annual church rummage sale, and planted her red geraniums at the church’s front entrance for years.

Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family. She did an exceptional job raising her five children and being a second mom to the four Herres girls (Liz, Jessie, Katie, and Abby) when they were younger. She was a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. Dorothy was a special aunt to her niece Kelly (Timm) Irwin and nephew Allen Timm. She had selfless devotion to others.

Dorothy was a great cook and even better baker, excellent seamstress and homemaker. Her kitchen skills and recipes are legendary. She enjoyed gardening and canning, feeding the birds, and planting and growing flowers. Dorothy was most at peace at her childhood home lovingly referred to as The Farm. The Farm is the Dallmann family gathering place where many fond memories have been made. She was an avid quilter at Grace to the very end, which gave her great contentment.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Lee. Daughter Lori (Tim) Pelky; their children Ryan (Maddy) and their son Bo, Shannon, Erin (Jack) Mellberg, and Kevin. Son Boyd (Julie) Dallmann; their children Chase, Drake (special friend Stephanie), and Brynn (special friend Duncan). Son Glen (Christina) Dallmann; their children Drew, Brandon (Jenny) Knight and their children Brandon Jr. and Lyla, and Danyell Trent and her son Leeland. Son Rick Dallmann and his children Hailey and Blake. Daughter Cori (Kevin) Kohl and their children Gillian and Kyle. Dorothy is further survived by her sister-in-law Gloria (Bob) Lorenz, brother-in-law Jerry Timm, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father (1976) and mother (1981), sister Mary (Suehring) Timm (1971), father and mother-in-law Alfred (1986) and Marcella (Fehling) Dallmann (1991), brother and sister-in-law Dale (1995) and Donna Dallmann (2021), and niece Dawn (Dallmann) Jung (1996).
