Obituary
Doris Sommer, age 99, passed peacefully during the early morning hours of Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Prairie Homes in Menasha.
Doris was born on October 4, 1923 in Neenah, Wisconsin daughter of the late John and Caroline (Pansy) Buss, Sr. She attended area schools until eighth grade. Doris enjoyed the family farm and worked at Marathon Paper Company. She was united in marriage to Clarence Sommer. Clarence preceded her in death on August 28, 2010. Doris was a member of Calvary Bible Church of Neenah. Doris loved the outdoors; especially fishing for perch. Most important to Doris, was her family and friends, and anyone she met, she always had a smile on her face.
Doris is survived by her nephew, Thomas (Vickie) Patterson; great nieces and nephew, Amy (Kevin) Alksnis, Erin (Terry) Foth and Patrick (fiancée Megan) Patterson; two great-great nephews, Austin Ogden and Kaleb Alksnis.
Along with her husband Clarence, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Mildred Luedtke, Alice Patterson, Violet and Myra Buss and three brothers, Alfred, John, Jr. and Harvey Buss.
Per Doris’s wishes there will be no services held. Graveside services will take place in spring at Dale Union Cemetery, Hortonville.
The family would like to thank the staff of Prairie Homes for the excellent care provide to Doris for the last 9 months. Doris’s family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care towards the end of her final time with us.
