Donna Lesselyong Obituary

Donna Mae (Liebergen) Lesselyong, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. Surrounded by family until the end, Donna experienced a long and rich life blessed by strong faith, family, and serving others. She was born to Harold and Stella Liebergen, the oldest of seven daughters, in Wrightstown, Wisconsin. Donna wed the love of her life, Tom Lesselyong, on April 25th, 1959. They raised six children living in Appleton, Wisconsin excluding a short time in Wisconsin Rapids.

She is survived by six children Mark (Lisa), John, Sue, Jim, Patti (Scott Pagel), and Mike (Heidi). She is further survived by grandchildren, Jason, Nikki, Calvin, Maggie, Ryne, Morgan, Jennie, Owen, Evan, Thomas and Henry; and five great grandsons. Donna is also survived by Vonnie Hillman, Joannie (Marvin) Heller, Sharon Waters, Barb (Chip) Waters, Karen (Randy) Kempf, Mary (Kraig) Runhke, and special friend Don. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and many other loved ones. Donna graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Menasha, Wisconsin in 1956, and worked at the Telephone Company as a bookkeeper until the birth of her first child. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. The early morning breakfasts before hunting or making SO many favorite family foods including homemade rolls and pies, Thanksgiving stuffing, spaghetti and meatballs and Christmas candy will be cherished memories for all family and friends. Donna’s favorite past times included playing cards, watching the Brewers, attending every sporting event of her children and grandchildren, but more than anything loved being surrounded by family. Donna served her church, St. Joseph Catholic Parish, throughout her life as a eucharistic minister and office and funeral support personal. She loved making baptismal gowns and prayer shawls for those in need. Donna served as the president of the Christian Ladies Society for several years. Later in life, Donna enjoyed working as a window treatment designer and seamstress, AND always had a non-stop mending pile from family members who so appreciated her help in keeping the children in non-holy jeans, or requests for Christmas stockings, mittens, hats and blankets.

Funeral services for Donna will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (404 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton) on Thursday, June 3rd at 11:00am. Visitation will be on June 2nd from 5-7pm at Valley Funeral Home (2211 North Richmond Street) and again on Thursday at church from 9:00am until the time of the service. The family would like to express gratitude to the Hospice nursing staff and special care and attention from daughters Sue and Patti, and granddaughters, Morgan and Jennie.
