Donald J. Witt

Donald Joseph Witt, age 85, went to be with his Lord and his wife of 65 years, on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his daughter’s home with his loving family by his side. He was born October 7, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI; son of the late Walter and Rose (Farber) Witt. Don was united in marriage on October 23, 1954 to Joann Peterson, she preceded him in 2016. He proudly served our country during the Korean Conflict in the 3rd Division Anti-Aircraft Infantry Ground. Don was a truck driver for Bacall’s and later Barry’s; he worked for Pierce Manufacturing and lastly retiring from the Outagamie County Weatherization. He enjoyed canning from his garden, tending to his roses and his dogs, hunting, fishing, the Packers and NASCAR. Don cherished the time with his beloved wife and family.

Don is lovingly survived by his seven children: Barb Witt, Nancy (John) Van Daalwyk, Sandy (Randy) Pennings, Dwayne (fiancée Nancy), Jane (Ray) Forler, Erv, and Robert Witt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his friends at Grumpy’s and hunting and fishing buddies.

The funeral service for Don will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., with the Rev. James Jugenheimer officiating. Don’s family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Military Honors will follow the service.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to Dr. Cheng, Dr. Weiss and especially everyone at ThedaCare Hospice for their wonderful care that they gave Dad during his time here with us. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
