Donald Wallace Shaw

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020 Donald Shaw Sr., loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 91. 

Donald was born on December 10, 1928 in Park Falls, WI to Roland and Jacquline Shaw. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945 and served in the occupational force in Japan (1946) and China (1947). After serving in the Marine Corps, he lived in Franklin Park, IL where on August 8, 1953 he married Lois Ann Phillips. After moving back to Wisconsin and settling in Neenah, they raised two sons, Donald Jr. and Duane. 

Donald’s working career encompassed the construction field. He was a successful business owner and operator of his own business before selling out to his employees. He then continued working in the construction industry and in 1977 rose to the position of President/Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers, State of Wisconsin, Local 139. He maintained that position until his retirement in 1995. 

Donald had a passion for aviation. He owned and flew six different aircraft during his lifetime with his favorite being a Beechcraft Bonanza. He was known for having a stubborn determination and an infectious smile. His family knew him as a patient and generous husband and father who nurtured and enjoyed a special closeness with his family. 

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Roland, his mother, Jacqueline and his sister Darlene.  He is survived by his wife Lois, and his two sons, Donald Jr. and his wife Amelia, and Duane and his wife Ellen, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

As per his wishes, a private funeral service was held on Friday, May 29th, 2020 in Greenville, WI. Officiated by Pastor Randy King.
