Donald B. Menting Sr., age 66, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born on October 8, 1959 in Shawano to the late Donald R. and Audrey (Piechocki) Menting.
Donald had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys — a calm lake at sunrise, the tug of a fish on the line, and the peace of being up north on the land in Cecil. He loved music and dancing, sharing beers around a fire, and howling at the full moon. Known for his playful spirit and a smile that could light up a room, Donald brought joy wherever he went.
He had a green thumb, tending to thriving vegetable gardens, and he enjoyed cooking homemade meals, brewing his own beer, and creating artwork. Donald loved fixing things — from his truck to complex machines — drawing on his skills in the electrical and mechanical trades. Even after retirement, he continued working part-time as a handyman until his health began to decline.
A proud Army National Guard veteran, Donald served his country with honor and humility. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his children: Candie Thoe, Holly (Josh) Wolf, Heather (Ryan) Mortier, Donald (Amanda) Menting Jr., Hannah (Alex) Stern; grandchildren: Alesia Nettekoven, Bryan Thoe, Alaena, Aubrey and Adalyn Wolf, Jade Mortier, Naomi Menting, Rhiannon and George Stern; great grandchild, Aaliyah Muolo; brothers, Kurt (Diane) and Terry Menting; and sister-in-law, Brenda Menting. He is also survived by his former wife and the mother of his children; Wendy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Audrey Menting, and brothers Travas and David Menting.
