Dolores (Dee) Ruth Hodge
Dee was born to Carl and Myrtle Hoops on April 15, 1938 in Royal Oak, Michigan. She left this world on June 18, 2025 at the age of 87.
Dee always said she was a tomboy because she loved to do the things the boys were doing – running, playing ball, and enjoying the out-of-doors. As a young girl, she wanted to be a gym teacher, but life had other plans for her.
Dee was persistent and taught herself how to cook, sew, and knit. She sewed many dresses for her daughters. Dee also had a very giving and unselfish nature. She loved to give gifts to others and supported her church and St. Joseph Food Program.
Dee eventually took up running, tennis, and, her greatest challenge and enjoyment, golf. At her home in Florida, she played every day and over time, made two holes in one. She loved her golf friends at Travelers Rest.
Dee eventually moved north to Wisconsin where three of her children were living. She loved being back where the seasons changed and she could enjoy the beautiful colors of Fall. She also loved our annual family beach day in the upper peninsula because the Great Lakes were a part of her and returning every year brought her much joy.
Dee leaves behind five daughters; Marti (Richard) Thiel, Melodie (Mike) Griffin, Monica (Steve) Clare, Michelle (Brad) Gillies, and Hannah Evans. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Donna Munyan, 21 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, her brother, Carl, and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Carole Schroeder, husbands - Charles Munyan and John Hodge - her son, Charles Munyan, Jr. and infant daughter, Melissa.
Her family will hold a celebration of Dee’s life on Wednesday, July 2nd. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Church of Jesus Christ’s Humanitarian Fund or to St. Joseph Food Program.
