David C. Schrader, a family man, artist, vinyl enthusiast, photographer, film maker, and public figure, passed away on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 in Appleton, WI. As Chairman of the Schrader Fun Committee, he actively searched for thrill and excitement wherever, and whenever he could find it. He had an immense love for music and concerts. He shared this love with family and friends, especially his children and wife whom he often took to concerts. They met many of their favorite musicians together. Dave is known for his shocking, sardonic humor and animated presence, he was liked by most and a friend to the lucky ones. He was 55.
Dave was born and raised in Milwaukee and went to Wisconsin Lutheran High School. After high school, he attended UW-Madison as a recipient of the Evans Scholarship. There he earned a BA in Art in 1988. He would always boast to people, “I have an art degree from a Big 10 university,” and would not shut up about it. He would go on to pursue a career in the printing industry for the remainder of his life.
In 1993, he married Kristin, with whom he remained true to until his death. They had two children, Levi and Sara, whom he was deeply proud of. Dave had many passions, and he loved working on projects, often for others. In the last year of his life, he never felt happier.
Dave is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Vera, and his mother, Pam. He is survived by his wife Kristin, son Levi (special friend Olivia Knutsen), daughter Sara (special friend Kachanat Johnson), sister Cheryl (Ron) Virchow, beloved dog Bigelow, aunt Julie Schrader, cousin Wisteria Marlborough and family, mother-in-law Susan Baillie, brother-in-law John (Susan) Nicholson, brother-in-law Kurt (Claire Lind) Nicholson and nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
There will be a celebration of Dave’s life on July 11, 2021, beginning at 12 p.m., at Bubolz Nature Preserve, 4815 N Lynndale Dr, Appleton, WI 54913. In honor of Dave, tropical, tie dye, and music shirts are encouraged.
