David Ostrowski

David Ostrowski, 90, of Appleton, WI, peacefully passed away of natural causes on March 29, 2022, in his home surrounded by loved ones. David was born in Stevens Point, WI to Helen and August Ostrowski. After a short stint at UW-Milwaukee, he entered the Air Force and fought in the Korean War. After he served, he worked at American Can Company and then followed his passion of woodworking by establishing Ace Furniture Repair and Refinishing in 1973, one of the only in Appleton at that time, and continued into his late 80’s. After meeting his beautiful wife Valerie Ostrowski (Eron) and a short courtship, they got married. They went on to have 4 children, Lynne (John Palkovic) Ostrowski, James (Eileen) Ostrowski, Gail (Robert) Dwyer, and Jeanne (Joseph) Pepitone Jr. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2021. David enjoyed a few hobbies including bowling, golf and shooting pool. He was an outstanding bowler, evidenced by his numerous trophies. He was still bowling at the age of 89 and was admired by all of his team members. As far as his golf game? He might have been the only golfer to tee off with a putter on a par three and knock it on the green. David was predeceased by his parents Helen and August Ostrowski; his sisters Grace Cannon, Edna Lesniak, Elizabeth Bunker; and brothers Theodore Odell and Frankie Ostrowski. He is survived by his wife Valerie; children Lynne, James, Gail and Jeanne; his sister, Marge Tranter; and his seven grandkids. While David was not given a middle name upon birth, in his late 80’s, his children came together and gave him the middle name “Frankie” as an ode to his late brother Frankie. Finally, Dad had a middle name. His family will be celebrating his life privately, and no service will be held out of respect for David’s wishes
