Daryl Hinkens Obituary

Daryl J Hinkens of Appleton, age 85,  passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 30, 2022. He was born on September 28, 1936, in Little Chute to Joseph and Helen Hinkens. On May 24, 1958, Daryl married Barbara (Barb) Hartzheim.  After 50 years of marriage, Daryl and Barb renewed their vows at a beautiful ceremony at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Appleton and remained happily married. Barb preceded Daryl in death  on May 5, 2013. Daryl worked for Consolidated Papers for 41 years, 25 years in Appleton and 16 years in Wisconsin Rapids, where Daryl and Barb made many new friends.  Daryl retired at the age of 62, and he and Barb eventually moved back to Appleton to be closer to family. In retirement, Daryl enjoyed traveling with Barb, including every winter to Gulf Shores, where they made many friends.  Daryl had many hobbies such as camping, boating, fishing, hunting, and regular visits to the mall to walk and talk with friends. Daryl also found great enjoyment watching his grandchildren participate in multiple sports.

He is survived by his sons Greg (Mary) and Gary (Becky), grandchildren: Jaxson Hinkens, Erin Ballard (Andy), Bailey Kemps, Jim Springhetti (Lindsey), and Garrison, Carleigh, and Reid Hinkens. Daryl is further survived by his sisters-in-law Jacki (David) Swiecichowski, Mary Hinkens and Ginny Hinkens, and brother-in-law Don Thews, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding him in death are his wife Barbara, daughter, Patricia Hinkens, sisters Beata Hahn and Bonnie Thews, brothers Romy Hinkens and J. Duane Hinkens, and brothers in law Richard Hahn and Billy Harthziem.
