Darlene Mary (Novy) Lyons

Darlene M. Lyons, age 91, of Appleton, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly, WI. 

She was born on January 17, 1932 in Manitowoc, WI, daughter of the late Victor and Laura (Shanda) Novy. On August 4, 1950, Darlene was united in marriage to the love of her life Clifford H. Lyons. Darlene graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI. She was employed in the medical field working at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI working for Dr. Steven Konz and Dr. John Shillnglaw. Upon her retirement, she moved to Crivitz, WI for 25 years before moving back here to be close to her family. Clifford and Darlene had a craft shop up north called “Country Bumpkin”. Darlene wrote a pen pal in Warszowa, Poland for over 63 years. Her last letter she wrote was never answered so Clifford and Darlene flew there and spent a week with her. They were like sisters.

Darlene is survived by one son, Dale (Sharon) Lyons of Appleton, WI; a daughter-in-law Kathryn Chadek Lyons of Fairbanks, AK; five grandchildren Kris (Diane) Lyons of Greenville, WI, Mark (Emily) Lyons of Appleton, WI, Troy (Monica) Lyons of Canyon Lake, CA, Jordan Chadek Lyons of Fairbanks, AK and Eliot (Ressie) Chadek Lyons of Linden, TX; six great grandchildren Cailee Ann Butler of Fairbanks, AK, Jase and Amber Lyons of CA, Alexandria Lyons of Appleton, WI, Bryce and Mason Lyons of Greenville, WI.

Besides her parents and husband Clifford, she was preceded in death by two sons Dennis and David Lyons; three brothers Donald, Victor Jr. and Leroy Novy and infant sister Mary Ann Novy.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. 

A private inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
