Dale R. Guckenberg

Dale R. Guckenberg, age 62, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was born on January 29, 1964 to the late Jerry and Diane (Maloney) Guckenberg.

Dale grew up with a love for people, laughter, and community. At age 20, he began working at his family’s business, Richmond Street Pub in Appleton, a local favorite. Over time, Dale’s dedication allowed him to eventually purchase the pub from his parents, becoming owner and operator for many years until his retirement in 2025. Despite retiring, Dale was still a familiar face at the pub where he continued to serve countless patrons, friends, and travelers.

On March 31, 1990, Dale married the love of his life, Linda Tomczak. Together they built a life full of laughter, love, and adventure. Dale was truly the life of the party; his quick wit, easy smile, and warm presence ensured that wherever he went, people knew his name. He loved traveling, especially to sunny destinations; one of his destinations being Aruba. Dale’s legacy lives on in the stories shared, the friendships made, and the community he helped create. His spirit will continue to shine in every glass raised and every laugh shared in his memory.

Dale's light continues to shine through those he leaves behind including: his loving wife, Linda Guckenberg; his daughter, Mylie (Zach) Wilcox; his grandson, Reuben Wilcox; siblings: Barb (Jay) Freier and Sandy (Tony) Omachinski; uncles: David (Linda) Maloney, Ed Maloney, Roger (Debbie) Maloney, Patrick (Joyce) Maloney; aunts: Nancy Wenzel and Rose Maloney; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless amount of friends.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents: Glenn and Edna Maloney; as well as his aunt and uncles: Glenn Maloney, Robert Maloney, Jim Wenzel, Christopher and Nora Bangart; and cousin, Sarah Thomas.

A Celebration of Life for Dale will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton.
