Cynthia Marie Hutchinson (formerly Cynthia Marie Stoll, nee Kersten) passed away, surrounded by love, on May 24th, 2024, at about 6:15 AM, in Appleton, WI. She was 70 years old. Cynthia, who preferred to be called “Cyndy,” was born on September 30th, 1953, to Eugene “Red” Kersten and Mary Anne Kersten of Kaukauna, WI. She was one of six children, with Steve Kersten and Kathy (Gene) Elliot being senior to her, and Valerie (John) DeNell, Annette (Gary) Martzahl, and Eugene Jr. aka “Geno,” being junior to her. Cyndy was married to Steven Stoll Sr. for many years. They shared two children, Steven Stoll Jr., and Karen (David) Roszina. When she and Steven Stoll Sr. parted ways, they remained good friends, jointly raising their children. She married Robert “Rob” Hutchinson on June 19th, 1998, in Neenah, WI. Rob was a father to Robert “Little Rob” Tomas.
Cyndy had many hobbies and several professions throughout her life. She loved being a school bus driver most and was known to use puppets and silly voices to interact with the children on her routes. In her free time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, refurbishing furniture, gardening, and tending to her roses.
Cyndy was a beloved grandmother, blessed to have Andrea, Lily, Cooper, and Sofia Tomas through Little Rob and his wife, Isabella “Izzy” Tomas. In the summer of 2020, she became a grandmother to twins, Isabelle “Belle” and Lila Roszina through her daughter Karen. Cyndy called Isabelle and Lila her “babies.” The love she had for her grandchildren was immeasurable. She could never have enough pictures and videos of them.
Cyndy was known for her quick wit, terrible jokes, and self-sacrificing personality. She loved animals and often named the critters in the backyard. Cyndy was loved by many and touched the lives of countless people. She gave the best parts of herself to those she loved. She will live on in the memories of her loved ones. The world is already darker without her in it.
Cyndy was preceded in death by her parents and brother Steve. She is survived by her husband Robert, her children, grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, and a myriad of others. The family would like to thank loyal friends Christina Theobald, and Steven and Laura Stoll. Cyndy’s family would also like to express their gratitude to DJ and Ashley at Compassus Hospice and Cyndy’s caregivers at Care Partners of Appleton, WI, specifically Sascha, Sabrina, Kearra, Lisa, Harlee, Hailey, Sheila, Victoria, Taleah, and Jessica (who Cyndy called "Mom").
A memorial service for Cyndy will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Valley Funeral Home (2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton). Friends and family will be greeted at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Cyndy’s name.
