A smiling, gentle man passed from this earth on Wednesday, June 5th.
Craig W. LeBeau, 71, of Greenville, WI, left his earthly home unexpectedly to join the peace of his heavenly home.
Craig was born May 4, 1953 to Vincent & Elda (nee-Braatz) LeBeau in Clintonville, WI. While growing up he enjoyed all that a small town offers- biking, playing with friends until the street lights came on, fishing, and playing little league. He continued his athletic career in high school. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, earning many awards.
He graduated from Clintonville Senior High School in 1971 and went on to Milton College, where he met his first wife Jan (nee-Green). They lived most of their married life in Beaver Dam, WI, where he worked for Alliant Energy and was very active in the community. They were blessed with two children, Chad and Mindy.
After Jan’s death in 2000, Craig moved to Greenville, WI. In 2007, he was reunited with a high school sweetheart, Sue Rohrer. They moved together to their current home in 2008, where they have been since their marriage in 2014.
Craig loved sports, especially golf. In 2021, he represented Wisconsin at the National Senior Olympics in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Through the years he had many friends and acquaintances on and off the golf course. He delighted in meeting his friend, John Burgland, for their every morning 7am tee-time at Grandview Golf Course in Hortonville, and for their “very competitive” (NOT!) Tuesday golf league. When golf season ended, John & Craig could be found sitting behind the players bench for Hortonville girl’s basketball.
Above all else, Craig treasured his family. As a loving father, he found joy in participating in Chad & Mindy’s activities as a coach, mentor, and role model. They became each other’s rock after Jan’s death. In the years to come, Craig was blessed to take on new family roles as father-in-law, stepfather, and grandpa.
Craig was proceeded in death by his parents Vincent & Elda, his two sisters Christine & Carolyn, and his first wife Jan.
Survivors include his wife Sue, his son William “Chad” LeBeau, Madison, WI, his daughter Mindy (Russ) King, Pewaukee, WI, step-daughters Katie (Noel) Kegel, Milwaukee, WI, and Krissy (Joel Carstedt) Oleson, Brookfield, WI. And grandchildren Brandon LeBeau, Athena & Aristotle Kegel.
Services for Craig will be held Friday, June 21 at 3pm at Valley Funeral Home in Greenville; N1858 Greenville Dr. Greenville, WI, with visitation from 1pm-3pm for friends and family to gather. Pastor (and personal friend to Craig and Sue) Kurt Hoffman will officiate the service.
Special thanks to Greenville emergency medical personnel, Greenville fire department, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, the doctors and staff of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, the staff of Valley Funeral Home, special friends Steve & Deb Flickenger, John & Nancy Burgland, and all others for assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be collected for a memorial at a local golf course.
Gone from sight, but held tightly in our hearts.
