Cory “CPOD” Podolski, age 46 of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, out doing what he loved to do on September 4, 2023. He was born on October 11, 1976 in Stevens Point. After graduating from high school, Cory went to work for FASTSIGNS when they opened in 1996. He was still working there as a machine operator. CPOD was a racer; he raced stock cars, RC cars, sportsman UTV and most recently he raced PRO SPEC truck- off road truck series, #08 placing 3rd just this weekend in Crandon, at Crandon Speedway. He made shirts for racing under the name “Fat Guy Designs” and gave away a few of those CPOD shirts this weekend. Cory was a fun, outgoing, caring guy who was a joy to be around, and will be missed by his family, friends and racing family so much.
He is survived by his mom, Laura Rasmussen, aunts and uncles; Diane Ley, Mike (Diane) Killian, Linda (Doug) Brauer, Gary (Sheila) Rasmussen, Jim (Brenda) Rasmussen, Deb (Mark) Toll, Brian (Jill) Rasmussen, as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends. Cory is further survived by his grandma, Shirley Rasmussen and his furry friend, Makita.
Preceding him in death are his step dad, David “Bender” Rasmussen, uncle Tom Ley, grandpa Richard Rasmussen and grandparents, Dick and Wilma Killian.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton from 10:00am until 2:00pm, with a time of sharing to follow.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
