Cornelia “Connie” Spoerl age 89 of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born in Appleton on November 20, 1932 to the late John and Gladys (White) Knuppel. In 1953 she married James Spoerl and together they had eight children. Connie was very active in her church, St. Pius X and volunteered for various organizations over the years. She worked for the city of Appleton at the Appleton Public Library and Appleton Housing Authority. She enjoyed reading and playing cards, but her most treasured times were spent with family.
She is survived by her children; John Spoerl, Ellen (John) McAllister, Mary Beth (Ken) Olson, Lori (Cy) Martz, Anne (Greg) Jochman, Janet (Eric) Parsons, Mark Spoerl and Suzanne (Kel) Wiegel, grandchildren; Erin (Colin Stair) McAllister, Hannah (Peter) Siech, Matthew (Kaitlyn) Spoerl and Eric (Fiancée Bella Marrero) Spoerl. Connie is further survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Rushkofske, sister in law, Beverly Knuppel as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, sister Lorraine (Al) Kuester, brothers Dick (Betty) Knuppel and Bob Knuppel, and a brother in law, Tom Rushkofske.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 3:00pm until 4:45pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St. Appleton, WI with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 5:00pm. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Connie’s name can be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Friends of the Appleton Public Library (friendsofapl.org) or a charity of your choice.
