Conrad Fuerstenberg Obituary

Conrad (Connie) D. Fuerstenberg entered into Eternal Life on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by loving family.  Conrad was born in Pine Grove township, Wisconsin, on January 29, 1941 to Delbert and Bonnalyn (Fletcher) Fuerstenberg at home in a blizzard.

Conrad graduated from PJ Jacobs High School and later served in the US Army for 2 years.  Upon returning, he married the love of his life, Carol Engelbert, on August 20, 1966 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  They moved to Appleton, Wisconsin where Conrad worked for Appleton Papers, working his entire career and retiring in 2002.

Conrad had several hobbies and interests.  He liked cars – especially Buicks, traveling across the country, he spent many happy hours listening to music while working on his stamp collection and had a long-time interest in collecting Lionel trains.

Conrad sacrificially loved his children and was proud to be able to take his family across the United States, to see many different cities, historical sites and places of interest.  But among his greatest joys were watching his grandchildren grow-up and being so very involved in their lives. He loved attending their concerts, musicals and various events, cheering them on in sporting events and sharing time and jokes that will endure a lifetime of love.

Conrad had a special place in his heart for dogs – especially his grandpups: Iris, Plato, Ollie, Sadie and Huck.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife, Carol, son Carl (Lori), daughter Carin (Mike) O’Rourke, grandchildren: Sara (KJ), Andrew (Chloe), Caleb, Joshua (Kristy), Daniel, Catherine, Reyna (Bruce), Autumn and Alex.

Conrad is further survived by his brother, Jerry (Betty) Fuerstenberg, sister-in-law Joanne Engelbert, brother-in-law Ronald (Diane) Engelbert, brother-in-law Donald (Charlene) Engelbert and nieces and nephews: Susan (John), Perry, Peter (Patty), Jeff, Becky, Lori (Dan), Joey, Todd (Jaquelyn), Beth, Greg, Tricia and Matthew.

He was preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Bonnalyn, father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Irene Engelbert, brother-in-law Edward (Butch) Engelbert and sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Ben Glisczinski.

The family would like to express a very special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Cherian and the nursing staff, especially Paige and Danielle, of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI for their compassionate and loving care for Conrad.
