Clifford M. Schimmelpfenning

May 11, 1939 ~ April 21, 2022 (age 82)

Obituary

Clifford Michael Schimmelpfenning, 82, from Shawano, was reunited with his loving wife Marion on Thursday, April 21, 2022.  He was born May 11, 1939, the son of the late Walter and Anna (Smits) Schimmelpfenning.

Cliff had a passion for the outdoors and in his younger days he spent much of his free time hunting and fishing.  A dad in the truest sense of the word, he could fix anything, and was often found putzing in the garage or basement as he always had a project he was working on.  His yard was his sanctuary and he loved feeding the many squirrels, birds and other wildlife that came to visit.  Anyone who knew him knew of his love to dance.  He and Marion could often be found on the dance floor of any picnic or festival in the summer.  In the winters, they would take trips to the casino to listen to music, dance, and play the penny machines.  He had a twinkle in his eye, a constant smile, and a greeting for everyone he met, and he never forgot a face.  The life of the party, he loved to entertain, and many times could be spotted playing the spoons when he wasn’t dancing.  He was the quintessential social butterfly.

Cliff’s love of music and dancing could only be rivaled by his love of family.  His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a tremendous source of joy for him.  He loved to spend time with his family and to share stories.  He was happiest when he could take the grandkids down to the dock and fish with them, even if he had to clean the catch for the day.

Cliff is survived by his two daughters Debra Winter and Donna Koebe (fiancé Joseph Harlow); four grandchildren, James Schimmelpfenning, Jessica Utley (Wyat), Joseph Koebe, and Kandra Winter; five great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Brianna, Brady, Laurel & Baby Utley; other relatives and many friends.

Family would like to thank the staff from ThedaCare Home Hospice and Aspire Assisted Living for their wonderful care of Cliff in his final months.
