Christopher Charles Thiel

Christopher “Chris” Charles Thiel January 25, 1976 - April 23, 2025 Christopher Charles Thiel, 49, of Appleton WI, on April 23, 2025, passed on from this life to a better place. Chris was born on January 25, 1976 to Charles Thiel and Linda Verkeilen. Chris grew up in the Appleton and Black Creek area where he attended school in both places. Chris from early on loved the outdoors. He spent many of his best days hunting and fishing with family and friends. Some say he was lucky to catch the big trophies, but he would be sure to tell you it was pure skill. Chris married Paula on March 31, 2003 and soon after the true light of his life was born, Dylan in 2006. He shared his love of the outdoors with Dylan, introducing him to hiking. To Chris’s delight, they both found peace and happiness in the quiet of the woods. Chris loved to see Dylan smile. He did his best impressions, and goofy stunts. The giggles and grins followed every time. Chris was a kind, generous, loyal man with a wonderful heart. He will be missed by so many friends and family. He is sure to feel the love on the other side as we keep his memory alive by sharing stories, pictures, and playing music way too loud in his honor.

Chris leaves behind his son Dylan who carries on his dimple and mischievous grin, his father and hunting/fishing mentor Charles Thiel and girlfriend Jan McDermid. You raised a good one. Great grandfather Wayne Thiel, brothers Travis (Renee) Thiel, Justin Kohl, sister in law Rachael Thiel, Nieces Trina, Taelyn, Aubree, Ava and Faith, Nephew Hunter, Mother Linda Verkeilen, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and forever friend Paula Thiel. Chris was preceded in death by his brother Jeremy Thiel, step mother Doris Thiel, grandparents Jeanne Thiel, Dorothy Kufner, Aunts, Uncles, and friends.

To honor his last wishes, Chris preferred no funeral service. Family will gather to lay Chris to rest privately.
