Christine L. Holz (Getsfried), of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. While her passing leaves our hearts heavy, we find comfort knowing she is no longer suffering and is now whole and at peace with her Heavenly Father.
Chris found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved animals, gardening, and decorating for the holidays—filling her home with warmth and joy. She also enjoyed tap dancing, riding motorcycles, rock ’n’ roll music, and she was a humongous Elvis fan. Time spent with friends, especially playing cards games, brought her great happiness. Above all, she cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Otter.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did. Even as Alzheimer’s slowly took so much, it never took her kindness or the love she carried in her heart.
Chris is survived by her husband, Richard; her children Julie (Wayne), Stephanie (Mark), and Amy; her grandchildren Kylie, Payton, Kira, Ash, Cyrus, and Lydia; and her siblings Leo (Jeanne) and Dave (Tammy).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Jean Getsfried and nephew Louis.
