Chris Grapentine Obituary

Chris A Grapentine, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born on November 8,1964 to Robert and Sharron (Kernan) Grapentine in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Chris was devoted to God and a member of Christ the Rock Community Church for decades. Anyone who knew him felt his faith and willingness to live out his values of love and kindness.

While Chris spent most of his working career as an electrician, his biggest hobby was biking: mountain biking, fat tire biking, and bikepacking. He traveled the country with his bikes, finding new places to explore and connect with nature.

As a loving dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, the ripple effect of Chris’s passing is immense. He was an involved father  and grandpa, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Chris had an infectious laugh, appreciation for life, and willingness to embrace adventure that often inspired others. He is already so dearly missed.

He is survived by his children Jared Grapentine and Samantha Sammons-Grapentine; grandchildren Christopher Zierer and Olivia Hargrove; his parents, Robert and Sharron Grapentine; his siblings Robert (Gina) Grapentine, Kelly (Hugh) Prosser, David (Janine) Grapentine, Jill (Steve) Sheets, and Jennifer (Michael) Smith. Chris is also survived by nieces and nephews: Andrew, Marissa, Brady, and Emma Grapentine, Emily Smits, Jor Grapentine, Crystal, Peyton, and Harper Brandt, James VanDenHeuvel, Connor and Riley Wehmeyer, Ty and Dominick Sheets, Kaitlyn and Ian Smith as well as many aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Walter and Sadie Grapentine and Geraldine LaVoie; and his uncle, Steve Grapentine.
