Charles Ziegler
April 12, 1927 – October 3, 2020
Charles was born in Browning, WI, outside of Medford, WI. He joined the Navy in 1945 serving in World War II on the Submarine Tender U.S.S. Bushnell (AS15). His duties included pattern making and then moved into the Mail Clerk area. Then moved to the reserves, but was later recalled into service again in 1950 as a Mail Clerk during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from service, he worked in the Post Office in Alameda, CA. He moved to Appleton, Wisconsin in1955, he worked in construction while at the Appleton Post Office where he retired from in 1972. During the years at the Post Office, he had his own construction business that included building and remodeling homes. After retiring from the Post Office he started working for K-C Aviation, remodeling and customizing the interiors of business airplanes. After leaving K-C, he then started a Sharpening Service.
As you can see, he was a very hard worker!
On April 8, 1983 he married Ruth (Schimmelpfennig) Hertzfeld at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI.
Charles is survived by his wife: Ruth Ziegler, his two daughters: Julie Sneath, Doleen Behnke, and his son Greg Ziegler. Ruth Ziegler’s two children: her daughter Wendy Timmers, and her son, Boyd Hertzfeld.
Charles was a hard working, caring person that will be missed immensely by his entire loving family!
A private burial will be held at a later date.
